Movie Room Reviews undergoes website redesign

Leading provider of home product movie reviews, Movie Room Reviews, has redesigned its website to offer more stylistic and functional benefits to its readers.  The new site now offers seamless integration between the home page, which include featured movie news items, as well as a portal to the other sections and tools on the site.

Movie Room Reviews now offers three types of movie coverage, along with the movie news.  There are DVD Reviews and Blu-ray Reviews that offer a thorough coverage of the home movie rental industry.  The site now also shares movie trailers and announcements for upcoming theatrical releases.  There are also many great ongoing DVD, Blu-ray and other Product giveaways.  This broad-based movie content and interactive environment makes Movie Room Reviews a fun-filled movie reviews product.

Fireproof comes to DVD January 27

Fireproof is the fifth highest-grossing Christian movie of all time.  The movie, which features the best selling book The Love Dare, tells a story about a couple (played by Kirk Cameron and Erin Bethea) struggling to find mutual love and respect after 7 years of marriage.
At the request of his father, fire cheif Caleb Holt (Cameron) agrees to take on the love dare and follows the forty day plan to saving his life and his marriage.  The books is  step-by-step guide to self-sacrifice and gestures of unconditional love intended to help give one a proper perspective on building a healthy marriage.

Movie Room Reviews presents 2008 DVD Awards

Movie Room Reviews is preparing to honor some of the best DVD releases of 2008 in all popular movie genres. At its DVD Reviews section, the site is currently accepting nominations for various categories including: Best Drama, Best Comedy, Best Action, Best Family/Kids, Best Sci-Fi, Best DVD of 2008, and more. As incentive for movie fans to participate in the nomination and selected process, they are offering two great DVD bundle prizes to those who offer up some nominations for the categories. You can check out the awards and participate in the DVD giveaway.

Movie Reviews site Movie Room Reviews has expanded its coverage to include Blu-ray reviews.  A new subdomain, http://blu-ray.movieroomreviews.com, has been established to serve as the Blu-Ray movie arm of the movie review site.  Coverage on Blu-Ray Room Reviews will include Blu-Ray reviews, giveaways and movie industry news related to Blu-Rays.

Twilight movie releases with impressive box office debut

To most in the entertainment industry, the fact that the Twilight movie released impressively over the past weekend (Nov. 21-Nov. 23) comes as no surprise. The hype surrounding the release of the first movie in the Twilight series, based on the hugely popular teenage vampire series from Stephanie Meyer, has been tremendous and ongoing. Despite some controversy, the final book in the Twilight saga, Breaking Dawn, had a remarkable commercial release in early August. There is no question that Stephanie Meyer and her teenage vampire genre has contributed to growth in this entertainment theme. Showtime began airing True Blood, starring Anna Paquin this season and Lost Boys 2: The Tribe “just happened” to release 20-some years after the original, following the popular Twilight series book finale.

The performance of the Twilight movie, which stars Kristen Stewart as teen Bella Swan, and Robert Pattinson as her vampire lover Edward Cullen, is impressive on many levels. The $70.6 million weekend box office debut is in the realm of premiere superhero action movie releases. It is easily the largest weekend box office debut ever for a movie directed by a woman (Catherine Hardwicke), outdistancing Mimi Leder’s Deep Impact which netted $41.2 million ten years ago.

Twilight also had the 29th best weekend premiere ever, just behind 300, which earned $70.9 million during its first weekend. The movie is also easily the most successful movie release from fledgling studio Summit. The companies previous best was another teen action movie, Never Back Down, which earned $8.6 million at the box office in March. Never Back Down achieved more success as a DVD release thanks to growing interest in mixed martial arts movies (MMA). It also bested recent releases Hancock and Disney’s Wall-E.

One of the supporting roles in the Twilight movie is played by up and coming actor Cam Gigandet who also played a leading role in Never Back Down. Others starring in the Twilight movie include: Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Jason Rathbone, Kellan Lutz, Peter Facinelli, Taylor Lautner, and Michael Welch.

Early estimates suggest about 75 percent of those who packed theatres for the Twilight release were girls and women. It is likely much of the remaining 25 percent were men accompanying their significant others. Teenage girls and young women have been the largest followers of the romantic vampire saga, Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. Early reports on the movie are favorable as audiences graded the movie an A-. This is especially good considering the hype leading up to the movie release.

There is already discussion of a sequel to Twilight, New Moon. This was also something easily predictable, despite the fact there was little discussion of a movie series leading up to the Twilight release. The Twilight book series included four popular releases. For now, however, the focus is on finding out just how much “coin” the initial Twilight movie can bring in.

Legends of the Crystal Skulls fascinates some

People who enjoy the chronicles of Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) often wonder if the artifacts and adventures that Indy pursues are based on real life stories and findings.  A new DVD from the Smithsonian Institute examines the real legends of the crystal skulls featured in the just released on DVD Indiana Jones movie.

The Smithsonian documentary, Legend of the Crystal Skulls, takes a look at the mythical legend of 13 crystal skulls and the large subculture of people around the globe who believe these skulls have power of absolute knowledge.  Some have connected the skulls to the end of the Mayan calendar in 2012, believing this is when the skulls will reunite.

The documentary explores the subculture and also takes a close look at early 20th century archaelogist Mitchell Hedges, whom many people believe is the motivation for the Indiana Jones character.
