Lost Boys: The Tribe and Breaking Dawn: A vampire coincidence?
During the course of reviewing the July 29th release, Lost Boys: The Tribe, it “dawned” on us that the follow up to the smash hit Lost Boys (1987), starring Corey Feldman and Corey Haim, came out the same week as the much anticipated Stephanie Meyer Twilight Saga completer, Breaking Dawn, some 21 years after the original vampire classic. Is this a timing coincidence or a clever marketing strategy by the producers and marketing team of the film? Stephanie Meyer has certainly made teenage vampirism a hot topic during the heat of the summer of 2008, which makes you wonder if the time was right to recreate the Lost Boys story.
There certainly were some interesting aspects to the film. The first half of the movie seemed to be a simple recreation of the original. However, things got interesting during the second half as Corey Feldman returned to reprise his role from Lost Boys.
